CAPE MAY COUNTY
SUMMER OVERDOSE SPIKE TOOLKIT
A Guide for Reducing Opioid Overdose During the Summer Months
To address the increasing number of overdose deaths related to both prescription opioids and illicit drugs, the Cape May County Department of Health has created this toolkit to provide resources for the community on how to help.
Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is up to 50 times stronger than heroin and 100 times stronger than morphine. It is a major contributor to fatal and nonfatal overdoses in the U.S.
Naloxone (known as Narcan) is a life-saving medication that can reverse an overdose from opioids—including heroin, fentanyl, and prescription opioid medications—when given in time. Naloxone is easy to use and small to carry.
If you know or think someone is struggling with addiction, ask them if you can help. Your concern might be just what they need to start their recovery journey, and your support could make all the difference in their success.
TOGETHER, WE CAN STOP DRUG OVERDOSES AND SAVE LIVES.
